Another route – debate the reroute publicly
Wednesday, July 4 2012 THE EDITOR: How many truths are there regarding the highway re-route challenge? The highway re-route movement has its facts. So do the Government. How many of these facts can withstand public scrutiny? The reroute movement claims that its proposal is more cost-effective and the Government says it has no other option. Each entity is providing bits and pieces of the reroute puzzle. Sensationalism will get the headlines but may not win the reroute battle. Government authoritarianism may win the battle but lose the general election war. The public is yet to see and hear sound reasons why the reroute movement’s position is better than the Government’s and the Government is yet to justify why it cannot reroute the highway as suggested by the movement.
