Police officers are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 39-year-old Tobago man who was killed in Barataria on Friday night.

Lyncon Ammon, who was said to be from Mason Hall, Tobago, was found dead in a drain by a party of police officers on mobile patrol at about 9.50 pm.

Police reported that they received a phone call from witnesses who said Ammon was driving a vehicle along Seventh Avenue, Barataria, before the vehicle came to a sudden stop.

The 39-year-old man was then seen coming out of the vehicle and walking along the roadway clutching his chest, before he fell into a drain.

Residents in the area alerted the police, and a party of police officers from the North Eastern Division Task Force, including Sgt Cornelius Samuel visited the scene. They found Ammon lying in the drain and immediately rushed him to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Investigations are continuing.
