The appraisals of Commissioner of Police Dwayne Gibbs and Deputy Commissioner of Police Jack Ewatski will be completed by the end of the year.

Police Service Commission chairman Ramesh Deosaran revealed this yesterday while speaking to reporters after a graduation ceremony at El Socorro SDMS Hindu School, Maraj Street, El Socorro.

“Every year the commission is constitutionally bound to complete the appraisal we started the process and we should complete it by the end of the year,” he said.

He said the commission is now doing its measures of enquiries and they have had consultations with Gibbs and Ewatski.

“So we are fulfilling all requirements both in terms of due process and the constitutional requirements so we are on the right track so far,” he said.

Meanwhile, Deosaran said the commission recently got a response from Gibbs on the leasing of a light aircraft.

The Solicitor General found that Gibbs acted outside of his authority to lease a $900,000 light aircraft for use by the police service.

“We recently got a response from him and that will be discussed at Thursday’s (tomorrow’s) commission meeting and we will move from there,” Deosaran said.
