Laventille man held with Mac 10

POLICE have seized a high-powered automatic pistol during an exercise in Port-of-Spain Division on Tuesday. During yesterday’s daily police briefing at Police Administration Building Edward Street in Port-of-Spain, spokesperson for the TT police service Sgt Wayne Mystar said: “A search warrant was executed at the home of a 19-year-old man of St Barbs, Laventille and one Ingram Mac 10 automatic pistol, 16 rounds 9 mm ammunition and 668 grams of marijuana, with a street value of $15,000, were found and seized.”

The man is to be charged with several offences and was assisting police with enquiries.

Mystar said the exercise took place in Port-of-Spain between 2 am and 8 am under supervision of ASP Grant and Insp Sahadeo Singh and included officers of CID office Port-of- Spain, Canine Branch and PoS Division. Eleven persons were arrested, ten for possession of marijuana and one person was held for outstanding reports of robberies and shootings in the Laventille district.

Twenty persons were arrested in an exercise by the Eastern Division Task Force and Canine Unit in the Mayaro district between the hours of 3 am and 10 am yesterday. Among the 20, eight were arrested for marijuana possession, two on enquiries for outstanding reports of robberies and ten on outstanding warrants.
