Tiny tots from all over the country will participate in the Red Cross Children’s Carnival (RCCC) tomorrow from 11am at Queen’s Park Savannah.

A staple event in the annual junior Carnival itinerary, the junior parade is set draw large crowds as the children transform the venue into a sea of festival colours.

The competition will start with the Babes In Arms category. Other categories include:

Boy and Girls 3 - 5, Boys and Girls 6-8, Boys and Girls 9-11 and boys and girls 12-15. Vice Chairman of the RCCC, Augustus Forde said this year the competition has had over 287 registrants.

The competition in its 56th year is a major fundraising event with proceeds going toward improving lives through core activities such as Disaster Preparedness, First Aid, HIV and AIDS-prevention as well as Health and Care in the Community.

Over the years the Red Cross has been doing extensive work on disaster preparedness and this year, through funds raised from the RCCC, major emphasis will be place on disaster preparedness programmes.

This year, the Committee will posthumously honour Wayne Berkeley, Allyson Hennessy, and Mary Norton for their contributions to the RCCC over the years.
