Nestle hosts Cadiz

Thursday, June 28 2012

IN commemoration of 50 years of manufacturing in Trinidad and Tobago (TT), Nestlé Trinidad and Tobago Limited hosted the Tourism Minister Stephen Cadiz at its Valsayn Factory on June 12 along with other members of his ministry.

The Minister received a warm welcome from Silvan Muller, Nestlé General Manager, who proudly presented to him the company’s many achievements over the last 50 years. The manufacture of liquid milk under the NESTLE brand has been the mainstay of the Company since the inauguration of its manufacturing facilities in 1962. This coincided with the commencement and uninterrupted daily collection of fresh milk from local farmers.

During his tour of the facilities, the Minister had the opportunity to witness, firsthand, the state of the art technology used in the manufacture of all Nestlé products including household brands such as NESTLE Milks, SVELTY, SUPLIGEN and of course the range of ORCHARD Juices and Drinks.

Cadiz commended Nestlé on its commitment to ensuring such high levels of manufacturing efficiencies on Tetra lines and was pleased to learn that Nestlé Trinidad and Tobago Ltd was the pioneer of this technology in the Western Hemisphere.

Mr Muller took the opportunity to share with the Minister the current and future investment plans to further develop Nestlé’s presence in Trinidad and Tobago and the Caribbean as a leading Nutrition, Health and Wellness Company.

Before ending the visit, the Minister and his team learned of the Recycling Initiatives led by Nestlé Trinidad and Tobago Limited with respect to the inauguration of the first Waste Water Treatment Plant in the Caribbean Region in 1998, and the plans to introduce a Water Recycling Plant by the end of 2012 for industrial usage – another first in Trinidad and Tobago. As part of its education drive Nestlé shares this initiative with 20,000 students who visit the manufacturing facilities annually.
