Let the people suffer, minister

THE EDITOR: Public Utilities Minister Robert Le Hunte is reported to have said that WASA needs almost $13 billion to fix the water problem and it just doesn’t have the money.

We know the Government has the money but it just spends it on other things – like billions to build a highway and harbour in Toco. This way citizens can take comfort that even though their clothes cannot be washed and they can’t bathe they at least can get to Tobago speedily.

And lest we forget, Carnival will soon be here and rum will flow. To quote Sparrow, “we like it so.”

But the minister should be reminded of the 1903 water riots when the Red House was burned down. So keep spending on vanity projects and let the people suffer.
