Man held for rape, robbery in Plymouth

One man is in police custody for the rape and robbery of a 55-year-old woman on May 8 at the Ply­mouth Multipurpose Cen­tre.

The 24-year-old man was arrested during an anti-crime patrol by the Tobago Divisional CID in the Scarborough Police and Shirvan police district from 4-8.30 am on Friday.

Snr Supt Jeffrey George told Newsday, “The homes of 11 priority offenders were targeted and search warrants executed. Seven persons were arrested as suspects in various crimes, including the 24-year-old suspect in a report of armed robbery and rape in the Plymouth district.”

Ac­cord­ing to a re­port, the vic­tim was work­ing in the area when she was held against her will at gun­point and sex­u­al­ly as­sault­ed at the centre, in the Arnos Vale area, near the cor­ner of Pent­land Road and Ad­ven­ture Link Road.

Investigations are continuing.
