Mr Mayor, Dry River is dying
THE EDITOR: I am witnessing the death of the East Dry River which runs on the east side of Port of Spain and I am appalled.
Weed and grass are growing in the river and at several points the concrete slabs are missing. We are just two months away from the rainy season and nothing is being done to rehabilitate the river.
Is Mayor Joel Martinez living under a rock? Previous mayors have always kept the Dry River in top shape.
For those who came in late, the East Dry River has a historical place in the city of Port of Spain. It was where national footballers and cricketers honed their skills.
The history of the steelband movement is rooted in the East Dry River.
