NATIONAL tennis quartet Anneliese Rose, Anya King, Breana Stampfli and Yolande Leacock completed their campaign at the Fed Cup Americas Group II Zone A challenge in fourth place, after losing 2-0 to Bolivia.

Rose was beaten 6-2, 6-3 by Gabriela Cortez Florez in the first singles encounter, before Bolivia took the outright victory with Noelia Zeballos defeating King 6-0, 6-0. No doubles match was played.

The result saw Bolivia finish third and TT fourth, while hosts Peru were promoted to the Americas Zone Group I with a victory over the Bahamas in their play-off. Panama finished fifth and Barbados sixth.

TT started the competition brightly with a 3-0 victory over Barbados on Thursday, but needed another victory Friday in their pool to advance to the promotion play-off. They, however, faced a tough Bahamas, who won 2-1, in a repeat of last year's Fed Cup result against the same team. The tide may have turned for TT prior to that match as Leacock picked up what was reported as food poisoning, ruling her out of the Bahamas match.

Leacock was coming off a 6-0, 6-0 singles win against Barbados’ Tangia Riley-Codrington the day prior.

She was replaced by King for the Bahamas clash and yesterday's third place play-off, but the debutant struggled against more experienced opposition.

Stampfli, who did not feature yesterday, won her two singles matches and one of her two doubles matches, partnering with Rose. The team will return home today.
