TT's women's tennis team will meet Bolivia in the third/fourth place play-off match in the Fed Cup Americas Zone Group II at the Tennis Club Las Terrazas, Lima, Peru today after finishing runner-up in Pool B with a 2-1 loss to the Bahamas.

Their loss against the Bahamas came a day after a convincing 3-0 victory over Barbados. TT were at a disadvantage from the start after Yolande Leacock reportedly fell ill with food poisoning, which ruled her out of the singles match. She won her singles match comfortably on Thursday.

Nevertheless, the day began according to plan for TT as Breana Stampli sealed her second singles victory in as many days, defeating Danielle Andrea Thompson 7-6 (4), 7-5. The result boosted Stampfli's Fed Cup singles win/loss ratio to 13:6, proving once again the importance of the 23-year-old's place in the squad.

Up next, Anya King – who replaced Leacock – made her TT Fed Cup debut, but the 18-year-old proved an easy test for her vastly more experienced opponent Kerrie Cartwright.

Cartwright, 27, playing in her seventh Fed Cup match in ten years, won 6-0, 6-0, and took her singles win/loss ratio to 18:7.

The Bahamas won the contest in the third rubber, with Cartwright, who has a doubles ranking of 754, pairing with Sierra Donaldson, taking on Stampfli and Anneliese Rose, the most experienced player in the group.

Cartwright/Donaldson stunned the TT duo 6-1, 4-6, 6-3, to seal the win and top spot in Pool B.

With the victory, the Bahamas earned a play-off spot against the Pool A winners and hosts Peru. The winner of that match will be promoted to Americas one Group I.
