Man charged for stealing after bank deposits money in error

A soldier has appeared in court charged with stealing $100,066.41 from RBC Royal Bank (TT).

Nigel Bowen, of Plumrose Avenue, Santa Rosa Heights, Arima, appeared before Port of Spain magistrate Marissa Gomez on a charge which alleges that between August 2 and September 9, 2018, he stole sums of money totalling $100,066.41 being the property of the bank.

It is alleged that the money was deposited into his account in error and he refused to repay it.

Police prosecutor Insp Rajesh Lall did not object to bail and Bowen was granted bail in the sum of $200,000.

He was ordered to report to the Pinto Police post on Mondays and Wednesdays and his case was transferred to the Arima Magistrates’ Court where he will appear on May 16.
