POLICE are investigating the theft of over $200,000 worth of items from eight stores in the Island Mall, near the Mid Centre Mall in Chaguanas during the pre-dawn hours today.

Police said at around 2.30 am, several men broke into the mall and stole a variety of items including cell phones, hand bags and other accessories from eight stalls and kiosks. Security guards told police they did not see or hear anything suspicious while on duty that night.

It was only after workers and business owners arrived at the mall that they saw the stores broken into. Officers from Chaguanas Criminal Investigations Department led by ASP Richard Smith went to the mall and spoke with the victims.

In an unrelated incident, at 2 am, a watchman at the Felicity Marina in Chaguanas was confronted by a group of men who tied him up. They then stole engines from five boats.
