RBC Junior Tennis heats up

THE RBC Junior Tennis Tournament heated up yesterday with quarter-final and semi-final matches in various age categories at the Trinidad Country Club, Maraval.

In the under 10 boys quarter-finals, Adam Wyatt beat B’jorn Hall comfortably 4-0, 4-1. In the boys under 12 'quarters', Jordell Chapman lost to Leeum Chan Pak 1-4, 1-4. The boys under 14 quarter-finals saw Nicholas Ready beat Jaylon Chapman 6-1, 6-1 to book his place in the last four. In the girls under 16 quarter-finals, Chelsea Mukerji lost to Victoria Koylass who needed two sets to prevail 6-3, 7-5.

In round robin action of the boys under 18 division, Ebolum Nwokolo beat Nathan Valdez 6-2, 6-2. In the girls equivalent, Yin Lee Assang came from a set down to prevail over Osenyonye Nwokolo 3-6, 6-3, 10-3.

In the boys under 10 category of the doubles tournament, Nirva Dougdeen and Luke Rawlins were defeated by Liev Khan and Adam Wyatt 4-1, 4-2 in the quarter-finals. In the senior mixed doubles category, Kyle Kerry and Victoria Koylass advanced to the semis after getting past Joel Augustine and Aralia Blackman 6-1, 6-2.

The tournament will continue today and is expected to wrap up on Thursday with final matches in all categories.
