Hard times?

THE EDITOR: The headline in the daily newspaper said that a $14 million walkover is to be built for pedestrians using the water taxis in Port of Spain.

The first paragraph of the article states that the walkover will be 40 metres long. That’s approximately 130 feet.

My brain cells may be ageing a bit so I whipped out my calculator to do the math and the cost worked out to $350,000 per metre. That’s $108,000 per foot.

Don’t forget to tighten your belts, people. After all, we are in hard times.
