Do something to curb road deaths

THE EDITOR: Is the police up to their “game?” I ask this question without casting aspersion on the service nor am I removing blame from errant drivers.

What I have noticed is the knee-jerk reaction by the police in response to fatal road accidents.

After three deaths on the Rochard Douglas Road and one recent death on the M1 Ring Road, the speed guns came into action. Why?

Those stretches of roads are known to be speeding grounds. Granted the police cannot be everywhere at the same time but there should be some kind of presence to deter those inclined to speed.

Why wait until a fatality occurs?

Surely we can do better – both the police and the motoring public.
