Amar: Mitchell legal letter trying to intimidate station

CHAIRMAN of More FM 104.7 Robert Amar has described a letter threatening legal action on behalf of Housing Minister Randall Mitchell as an attempt to intimidate the station.

"Nothing has happened and you writing me a letter to warn me? I don’t need a warning. We know our responsibility. We are a responsible media house. We have no atrocious problems facing us."

He was responding to a letter he received on Monday from attorney Michael Quamina acting on behalf of Mitchell on the station's Ground Report programme.

The letter stated: "I am instructed that it is intended by the hosts of the captioned programme to make my client the subject matter of an on-air discussion. Please be advised that the programme will be monitored and taped, and should any words defamatory of my client be uttered, whether prefaced by words such as 'alleged' or not, my instructions are to not only litigate against the person who uttered the words, but also against your station for having broadcast same. I will be placing this letter before the Court should litigation become necessary."
