TRHA orders probe into two deaths at Scarborough Hospital

The Tobago Regional Health Authority (TRHA) has launched an investigation into two deaths at the Scarborough General Hospital in January.

The investigation was ordered by Secretary of Health at the Tobago House of Assembly (THA), Dr Agatha Carrington.

A statement from the Department of Health said both deaths occurred within a short period of time at the hospital where the women - Petronella Neptune and Tricia King - were receiving medical care. The statement said the women’s deaths “have impacted the entire island.”

“The Secretary is committed to equity and social justice in the delivery of all aspects of healthcare.

As such, the findings from this investigation will be used to ascertain the level of care delivered to both clients and inform the necessary corrective actions to be taken (if any), to avoid any future occurrences,” the statement said.
