700 graduates in vocational skills

More than 700 participants graduated from the six-month Vocational Skills Training programme hosted by the Division of Community Development, Enterprise Development and Labour on December 5, with Secretary Marslyn Melville-Jack, saying she was pleased with the programme, which was intended to provide avenues for capacity building, and to afford persons access to training opportunities.

Speaking at last Wednesday’s post Executive Council media briefing at the Administrative Complex, Calder Hall, Melville-Jack said the programme has several benefits for entrepreneurs.

“It ensures an opportunity for the community centres and multipurpose facilities to be fully utilised throughout the day,” she also noted, “and it also exposes the community members to skills sets that are needed to facilitate employment opportunities and economic diversification,” she said.
