Finals begin minus TT

THE EDITOR: The World Cup finals have begun.

And everyone has become an expert. But buying a jersey and speaking loudly does not qualify anyone as being knowledgeable.

Men and women who have never kicked a lime in their life will be giving advice. Maybe it’s because they exhibit a low pH.

Offside will cause arguments like in Parliament.

The key factor will of course be when the ball is played.

I have seen some great competitions. I recall looking in 74 with my dad on a black and white TV.

However, the best finals for me was in 78. The best coach was Cesar Luis Menotti and the greatest striker was Mario Kempes, both of Argentina.

After Spain won a title anything is possible. Remember, it takes a team to win the cup. Not individuals.

Games will cause arguments between husband and wife. Bar owners will laugh all the way to the bank.

Possible winners include Brazil, Germany, France, Argentina and Portugal. I wish all teams well.

With all of our football knowledge and ability, how come TT did not qualify? A case of too many cooks spoiling the soup?

I remember a certain prime minister banning live games. We all know what happened to him and his party.
