Results of that money waste

THE EDITOR: A recent letter titled “Throwing away our taxpayer dollars” by Michael Jay Williams explains how money is wasted here by our politicians. Once they get an idea in their heads they rush out and overspent on buying various commodities in bulk.

They never consult with the experts about the expertise needed to use or maintain such commodities. This is noticeable within most ministries. These guys have become so used to wasting public money they do so without any accountability or transparency. It is just part and parcel of having quick access to profits from our oil and gas resources.

Now that these two resources are dwindling at an alarming rate and they are declining in value, our politicians are borrowing and spending money like wildfire, mostly at the future expense of ordinary citizens and the younger generation.

The consequences of this spending spree, which has gradually been developing for decades, are beginning to show serious consequences. We now have runaway serious crimes and lawlessness caused by growing poverty and unemployment, which are leading more citizens to indulge in criminal activities.

Moreover, looking ahead there seems to be no solution to our adverse problems which must get worse if the Government continues to spend our dollars willy-nilly and ignores what is happening with crime.
