Thanks for TT Police Service

THE EDITOR: I would like to commend some members of the TT Police Service for their assistance during an incident involving a family member of mine who is staying in Trinidad. As a retired New York City police officer, I was impressed with the professionalism of your local police in handling this incident.

My mother-in-law, who is a native of Trinidad, was visiting family for an extended period. She was the victim of an assault. Inspector Sebeiro, Sergeant Garth Jones and Constable Frederick of the Inter Agency Task Force (Hearts and Minds Department) responded to the incident in a timely fashion. There were a couple of other officers involved, unfortunately I did not get their names.

Their professionalism kept the incident from escalating, and the compassion they showed the victim, while treating the offending party with fairness, was exemplary.

I would also like to commend two members of the Court and Process Branch, Barataria, namely Constables Emanuel and Painter, for their quick response and the efficient and professional manner in which they executed their duties.

After seeing so much negative news involving police officers, especially in my country, I think it is important that the vast majority of officers who do their jobs professionally each and every day, should be recognised for doing their jobs as professionals. I thank and praise these officers who showed their devotion to duty and to helping others.
