Not doubles vendors only

THE EDITOR: If you are enjoying the benefits of all that TT has it is important that you contribute in all aspects of the county’s development, including paying taxes. For too long many have evaded this duty.

A call has been made for doubles vendors to pay tax but there are others who do not face the taxman. There are thousands in the construction business, some working seven days a week, who are not paying taxes. For example, electricians, masons, carpenters and plumbers, to name a few. And they are well paid.

Also, there has been an explosion of food outlets all over the country. Once a space can be found a cart appears selling some type of food. Are these owners paying taxes? What about the auto mechanics, video club owners, coconut vendors etc?

So I support widening the tax net to cover all those not contributing, but not just the doubles vendors. All must be included.
