Level the tax field

THE EDITOR: Tax expert Angelique Bart has recommended that the doubles man, taxi driver, et al, should all be taxed. I agree all citizens should pay taxes.

As a consequence, government ministers and other officials should also pay tax. They ought not to be exempted from purchase tax on vehicles.

Recently it was highlighted in the media that a minister had bought as many as three luxurious vehicles over the last few years.

Like all taxpayers, ministers must pay their own medical bills. They ought not to receive housing and other allowances that the doubles man, taxi driver, et al, do not enjoy.

Let us make a level playing field for all taxpayers, inside and outside of Parliament.
