Govt, Sandals set timelines for Buccoo hotel project

Members of a Cabinet-appointed negotiating team met with representatives of Sandals Resorts International (SRI), including Deputy Chairman Adam Stewart, on May 9 to discuss developments concerning the resort chain’s coming to Tobago.

A media release from the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) said the parties discussed the setting of a timeline as there was agreement that the project should be given priority.

The Cabinet team, which comprises Petrotrin chairman Wilfred Espinet, Conrad Enill and Waltnel Sosa and Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister Stuart Young, met with the Sandals team led byStewart, and including CEO Geehard Rainer and chief operations officer Shawn DaCosta.

“The parties discussed the way forward for the Tobago project and the settling of a timeline with milestones for progressing the project,” the OPM statement said.

It added that the Government “looks forward to progressing this project and will provide further details as and when milestones are met.”
