TRC hosts successful ‘All Steel’ shooting tourney

THE Tobago Rifle Club (TRC) held its first Annual All Steel Pistol Shooting Competition on April 28, at the TRC Range, at Bay leaf Hill, John Dial, Tobago. This was the largest All Steel match that has ever taken place in the country. The steel targets were fabricated by Rojas Engineering.

The event attracted 42 competitors comprised of members of the TT Defence Force Shooting Team (TTDF), TT Police Service Shooting Team (TTPS), TT Cadet Force (TTCF), Trinidad Rifle Association (TRA), South Trinidad Rifle Association (STRA), and local members of the TRC. The event even saw participation from Mr Harold “Hondo” Hopkinson, IPSC regional director from Guyana, as well as his team-mate Sherrard Williams, both from the Guyana Rifle Association (GRA). Also present was the IPSC regional director of Barbados, Kevin Grant, who proudly represented the Barbados Rifle Association (BRA). Of the many competitions hosted by the TRC, this was the first time the club saw participation from its regional associates. From the success of the event, next year’s competition is expected to be even more patronised. Competitors came out to show their skills in various categories. The Courses of Fire while challenged the skills of even the best of the best. The winners of the various categories include:

The TRC broke boundaries and certainly raised the bar with this event and has sparked great interest and enthusiasm in the sport of pistol shooting.

The TRC’s next major pistol event will be the TRC Championship Pistol Shoot which is a Top Gun Qualifier event scheduled to take place on October 27.
