10 new buses arrive, five more to come

Assistant Deputy General Manager of the Public Transport Service Corporation (PTSC), Tobago Operations, Henry Cook, has confirmed that 10 new diesel buses have arrived in Tobago and that a further five CNG buses, inclusive of two tour buses, are to arrive in coming weeks.

A news release from the Office of the Chief Secretary said the arrivak of the new buses would significantly improve the quality of Tobago’s bus fleet, including replacement of the maxi taxis currently servicing the Charlotteville and L’Anse Fourmi routes.

The release said National Gas Company (NGC) President, Curtis Mohammed, has confirmed that two mobile CNG stations will be deployed at the COVE Estate to service the CNG buses only, and that discussions for CNG access by the general public were in train.

PTSC’s management also reports that training for the Tobago bus drivers has commenced and will continue for the next two weeks, the release stated, adding that the training was being facilitated by Chinese technicians from the Higer bus company, as well as the driving instructor from PTSC Trinidad and a local technician from Tobago, Barry-Lee Graham, who was sent to China to be trained.
