‘Prove me wrong on tourists’

DEPUTY chairman of the Tobago Forwards Kevon McKenna is calling on Secretary of Tourism, Culture and Transportation Nadine Stewart Phillips to prove the figures presented by her division for the cruise ship season November to May are accurate.

On Monday, the division, on its Facebook page, posted a video indicating that Tobago has recorded high arrivals for the 2017-2018 cruise season. In the video, it id claimed Tobago is projected to receive approximately 80,000 visitors by the end of the season.

McKenna said the video suggested a 236 per cent increase in cruise ship arrivals. “I would like to challenge the secretary,” he said. “Prove me wrong, release the statistics, the report you have hiding on your desk, release the statistics. We want to know how much passengers actually came off the vessel, how much passengers went on tours as well as how much was the average spend per passenger.”
