Girl, 10, sexually abused at cadet camp

A ten-year-old girl who was part of a team of schoolchildren attending cadet camp at a school in the west was sexually assaulted on Wednesday.

She reported to Child Protection Unit (CPU) officers at the Four Roads Police Station that around 6 am, she was awoken by a cadet sergeant who told her the company sergeant major (CSM) wanted to see her.

She said she accompanied the man to an area of the camp where she met the CSM and six other girls.

She reported yesterday that she was ordered to a lonely area and sexually assaulted.

The girl is expected to be examined by a doctor.

CPU officers said yesterday the suspect is expected to be questioned on Monday and other children at the camp are also expected to be questioned to see if they too were victims of sexual abuse by the suspect.
