Sales clerk charged with trafficking $360,000 weed

A Mason Hall sales clerk, who is alleged to have transported $360,000 worth of marijuana from Trinidad to Tobago, on the Cabo Star, on Monday, appeared before a Scarborough magistrate yesterday charged with marijuana trafficking.

Rodney Rooplal, 36, of Sandy River, Mason Hall, was arrested by officers of the Scarborough CID at the Scarborough Port, at about 8.30 pm on Monday, after disembarking the ferry.

It is alleged that police stopped the driver of a white panel van, searched the vehicle and found ten rectangular packets, containing six kilogrammes of marijuana. Rooplal was charged by PC Kernel Dates.
