Police make arrests for shotgun, drugs

A Las Lomas man was arrested for firearm and marijuana possession in the Las Lomas district, the police said on Wednesday.

In a statement, police said one man was arrested and a shotgun and quantities of marijuana and ammunition were seized by officers of the Northern Division Task Force during an anti-crime exercise in Las Lomas on Wednesday night.

The exercise was coordinated by acting ACP McDonald Jacob and acting Snr. Supt Michael Daniel.

Police said, during the exercise, officers executed a search warrant at the Ajodha Street, Las Lomas home of a 42-year-old man and the shotgun, one round of 12-gauge cartridge and 10.5 grammes of marijuana were found hidden in the house.

The suspect, who was in the house at the time of the exercise, was arrested.

In a separate exercise in the Point Fortin district, police also arrested a man for marijuana possession.

The exercise was conducted by the South Western Division Task Force, coordinated by acting Snr Supt Neville Adams and supervised by Sgt. Shaeed Ali.

A statement said the officers stopped a silver AD Wagon on the Cap-de-Ville Main Road and found two packets containing 2.1 kilogrammes of marijuana under the driver’s seat. The drug has an estimated street value of $21,000.

The driver, a 42-year-old man of Guapo, was arrested.
