A risen Christ

THE EDITOR: On that Sunday morning Mary visiting the sepulchre was astonished, realising that the Lord was not there, but was comforted by an angel with these words “Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.

He is not here: for he is risen,” as he said. “Come, see the place where the Lord lay.”

I believe that Mary, at the time, was relieved knowing that it was not someone who stole His body and as He said it was “fulfilled” back from the grave, I call it “Resurrection morning.” He is alive.

I will like to give a brief insight of what His resurrection means to us all for even while celebrating Easter there is a possibility that the benefits of His death, burial and resurrection can elude many. Firstly by His resurrection he did overcome death, no wonder it is written “O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory.” The righteousness which he won for us we all can now be partakers. Sinful man can now be declared righteous or receive righteousness because of His death, burial and resurrection.

Another benefit is the ability to live above sin not on our own doing but through Christ. Every person who is committed to him and endeavours to live victorious above sinful acts and vices etc can do so even in this world. The power to do so lies in our Lord and this power is available to anyone who so desires. No one is excluded. God sent His son for the salvation of the entire world. His resurrection also provided the avenue where we all can for ourselves experience his personal presence. The Psalmist David said, “I was glad when they said, let us go into the house of the Lord.” Why was he glad? Because he wanted that personal encounter with God.

Finally because of the Lord’s resurrection and him being victorious over death gives us the glorious hope that we, too, will rise again on that great day. This is good news for us all. Do have a wonderful Easter weekend and always keep in mind that his death, burial and resurrection was done with us all in mind. God bless you
