Probe all theabuse reports

THE EDITOR: I keep reading that all cases of domestic violence must be investigated.

This is wrong in principle. All reports must be investigated, whether real or fake, whether domestic or non-domestic. For example, if the wife of a car dealer reports her husband for domestic abuse, the police must investigate and arrest the husband, if justified. Of course, if she subsequently withdraws the report she should be charged with wasting police time The police are required to investigate each and every report, every time.
