Chapman shocked over death of daughter and ex wife

SEETA PERSAD

RONSWORTH Chapman, father of murdered teenager Olivia Chapman and ex-husband of Abigail Chapman who were among the four people murdered in La Brea on Tuesday, is blaming the police for their deaths.

At his Ellis Street home in La Brea yesterday, Chapman admitted he is still in shock over the horrific deaths. A devout Seventh-day Adventist, Chapman said he last spoke with his daughter on the Saturday last. “I spoke with her at the church and she sounded happy,” he said adding that he shared a good relationship with his children and would look forward to seeing them in church

Chapman said he did not have a clue that his ex-wife and daughter were in danger. He said after reading the newspapers, he could not believe that the suspect, who he knows, was threatening his ex-wife.

“Had I known all this was happening, I would have taken my daughters and kept them in my home,” he said, and blamed the police for not responding to calls for help from Abigail.

Chapman, who plays the piano at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in La Brea, thanked God for sparing the life of his younger daughters, ages 10 and eight. The two were in the home with their mother Abigail when she and the three others were killed but miraculously escaped death as they were asleep.

Chapman said he and Abigail parted ways in September 2015. “The kids stayed with her they were accustomed to being with her, but I provided for my children.”
