Baptiste, Jack top leaderboard at Chaguaramas Golf

NATIONAL GOLFERS Wayne Baptiste and Aleema Jack are out in front at the 2018 Chaguaramas Golf Club Championships after the first day of the tournament yesterday.

With defending men’s champion Richard “Pecos” Camacho withdrawing during yesterday’s opening round, Baptiste’s 73 held up as the best score of the opening day.

Hollis George (75) and Neil Lutchmansingh (76) are also in contention for the title.

Jack, a national women’s player, scored 40 points in the women’s championship, with Symoniez Clouston (37) in second.

Curtis Lee Poy (79) holds a two-shot lead over Gerald Vierra in the B Class, while Alan Young (84) has a commanding four-shot advantage in the C Class.

Jason Clarke scored 34 Stableford points in the D Class to hold the overnight lead. The two-day tournament concludes today at the Chaguaramas Golf Course.

Women’s Championship: 1. Aleema Jack 40 points; 2. Symoniez Clouston 39 points; 3. Emily Ramsahai, Azaria Joseph 37 points.

B Class: 1. Curtis Lee Poy 79; 2. Gerald Vierra 81; 3. Kendall Lowhar 82.

C Class: 1. Alan Young 84; 2. Neil Edmund 88; 3. Lennox Fergus 88.

D Class: 1. Jason Clarke 34 points; 2. Leslie St Louis 31 points; 3. Ronald Ward and Marvin Ishmael 30 points.
