Police kill cop-shooter

NALINEE SEELAL

A 34-YEAR-OLD Mamoral man who shot a policewoman last year, was killed during a shootout with police on Thursday night. Members of the Cunupia CID went to the Mamoral No. 1 home of Sean Padarath at 7 pm to execute a search warrant for arms and ammunition but were confronted by rapid gunfire.The officers returned fire and Padarath was killed. Police seized a .38 revolver and several rounds of ammunition from the crime scene. His body was viewed by a district medical officer and taken to the Forensic Science Centre (FSC). Officers under Snr Supt Inraj Balram and ASP Richard Smith visited the scene and Smith is continuing investigations.

On September 12, Padarath was charged with shooting WPC Crystal Ross-Abraham in the left shoulder while she was on her way home with her husband. That matter was pending at the Chaguanas Magistrates Court and Padarath was out on bail.
