Wrong timing

THE EDITOR: We are constantly hearing complaintS about the lack of money due to the economic downturn, a bleak reality that is currently facing TT. In this situation our Government needs to spend wisely and really get value for every dollar.

Bearing that in mind I do not see building a swimming pool costing some $4.5 million really the best option in terms of giving to the people of Laventille. What are the real needs of these people? Employment, help with children issues, crime, poverty eradication etc, these are the areas where the money needs to be spent.

I believe the timing for this is not now. Let us bring about meaningful change in the lives of the citizens living in Laventille. Building a swimming pool is surely not the way to do that at this present time.
