Murderers off to a flying start

THE EDITOR: Murderers got off to a flying start from their racing block last month, even surpassing the days of the month, as if already trying to break another record this year.

But I hope the hangman would be at the finishing gate to place the medals around their necks.

It is time the authorities really get down to business and let those killers know that their lives would be forfeited in return, remembering the words of the creator: “If you live by the sword, you must die by the sword.”

This country cannot continue with these criminals holding the country to ransom and the people in fear. It would seem this Government is not truly interested in arresting this serious crime situation because the Opposition has twice pleaded with the Government to discuss this burning issue and it was turned down. Is it because the Government has no genuine plan?

I am sure the Opposition can help in this predicament.

This is the time for the Government to prove its worthiness by tackling the various problems facing the country. This is the time for the public to breathe a sigh of relief.

The police on the other hand must speed up their investigations and solve the outstanding murders rather than having these killers walking freely on our streets.

The security forces have the responsibility to safeguard residents.

The people continue to live in fear that their children are in danger from the predators in their midst. I believe those in authority should show more compassion for families who have lost loved ones in tragic circumstances.

Let’s hope the Government accepts the Opposition’s offer to discuss the crime situation.

Meanwhile I hope the killer of schoolgirl Rachel Ramkissoon is found and the case does not go the way of murdered Japanese girl Asami Nagakiya.
