Arturo Tappin and Mr Shak will join Brazilian artistes in Take 2 the Concert: Afro Calypso and Latin Jazz Fusion at Queen's Hall, St Ann's, tomorrow.

Produced by Creative Collective Arts, the concert has its theme, Journey to Brazil and will pay homage to Brazilian rhythms with its headline act Grammy-nominated, Nilson Matta’s Brazilian Voyage Band.

Mistah Shak has shown his prowess in the calypso arena as a National Calypso semi-finalist on seven occasions since 2010. Shak will deliver an acoustic performance that will show another side of his talents.

Acclaimed saxophonist Tappin will be performing with his Caribbean Jazz Sextet and is expected to deliver the type of performance that has made so highly popular with TT audiences.

As one of the Caribbean’s most loved musicians, he has played and recorded with many artists including Luther Vandross, Eddy Grant, Monty Alexander, Ernest Ranglin, Jacky Terrasson, Courtney Pine, Al Harewood, Roy Haynes, Ellis Marsalis, Pete King, Mutabaruka, The Wailers Band, Third World, Sandra Cross, Maxi Priest, Bongo Herman and Dean Fraser.

Tappin attributes much of his success to a former tutor at Berklee College of Music, Bill Pierce (Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers), uncle Elombe Mottley, and his parents for their constant love and support. He also collaborated with singer and pianist Roberta Flack.

Take 2 The Concert will raise funds for musical and educational projects to benefit local musicians and listeners.

Tickets priced at $300 advance, $350 at the door are available at Queen’s Hall box office – 624-128.
