Wilson bags 1st UANA gold for TT

Zarek Wilson earned the first gold medal for Trinidad and Tobago and the entire English speaking Caribbean when he won the 11-12 male 100m backstroke yesterday at the UANA Swimming Cup in Coral Springs, Florida.

Wilson stopped the clock in 1:07.63. Silver went to Mexico’s Arellane Nangullasmú (1:08.80) with bronze going to Colombia’s Simon Bermudez (1:11.08).

Kael Yorke was TTO’s second medal winner of the meet winning bronze in the 15 - 17 male 100m butterfly.
