Verdict in Marabella murder on Monday

Justice Maria Wilson is expected to finish summing up, on Monday, a murder trial in which two men from Marabella are charged for the 2009 murder of Jason Fullerton, 35, of Jack Street, Marabella. The judge began summation yesterday in the San Fernando High Court in which Randy Flemming, 42, also called Saroop, of Riverside Road, and Okechukwu Moyo, 23, also called Chanka, are on trial for murdering Fullerton by shooting him. Over the past two months a 12-member jury and the judge heard evidence on an allegation that on March 13, at about midnight, Fullerton was killed at a track off Ramsamooj Trace, Marabella.

The State’s case is being led by senior state attorney Trevor Jones, instructed by state attorney Anslem Leader, who led evidence from several witnesses. A statement given to the police by Alicia McKenzie, who said she saw what happened, was also tendered into evidence.

McKenzie was found dead one month after Fullerton’s killing. Senior Counsel Pamela Elder is representing Moyo while Flemming is being defended by attorney Kevin Ratiram.
