Muslims, Carnival don’t mix

THE EDITOR: Soon Carnival will be celebrated and I must remind my Muslim brothers and sisters not to participate. Masqueraders will wine on something and jam on something, and the disgraceful behaviour could only get worse. I feel sure if Jesus was a Trini, he would give up his citizenship.

I know this is our national culture and it is state sponsored, and someone even suggested that we should put more money into it, but Muslims should ensure that this culture is not promoted in Islamic schools.

I also advise my brothers and sisters not to oppose anyone who wishes to participate, whatever organisation they may belong to, be it political, religious or otherwise, and even if anyone chooses to walk down town in a bikini, a t-string or a g-string, a week before or a week after carnival, do not oppose them.

Remember when Babylon and Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed because corruption, vulgarity and immorality was the norm. Allah saved those whom he favoured.

A A SAYED, Diego Martin
