Cubans, what is the plan?

THE EDITOR: We are hearing of growing numbers street dwellers, not those who are homeless alone, citizens of our country, but people from other countries seeking a new life. What was very touching for me is seeing young children involved in this hardship, I noticed a baby also. If this is not handled and I believe it must be done with compassion in mind, we can have an escalating problem. These people are easy prey for the criminal elements in Trinidad and Tobago.

I am asking, can they not be housed somewhere until this matter is sorted out? What I am gathering is that in TT we really do not have a concrete plan to handle matters of this nature for this can be the only reason why they are still living on Chancery Lane, or someone is not performing their function. What about those organisations who are so often heard of under the heading of human rights? Do you have any suggestions? I know it is the Christmas season and everyone can be very busy but I see this matter as being important and I must highlight once more that there are infants involved here. Please, the necessary authorities look into this matter and while we do not wish for it, I surely will not like to see any negatives take place or harm coming to anyone.
