Find money for dialysis now, Prime Minister

THE EDITOR: It must be a joke. The Government has no money to pay for dialysis?

There are two areas where money should always be reasonably available — national security and health.

People cannot be told today for tomorrow that they will have to fend for themselves to get money to pay for their dialysis. Most of these people are unable to fund it themselves, that is why they ask for the State’s assistance. If they had the money they would be spending it to save their own lives. Come on Prime Minister and Ministers of Finance and Health, you cannot allow this to happen. You must cut expenditure from somewhere else and fund dialysis treatment. It is your duty to take care of the sick. That is what any government is elected to do — take care of the sick and vulnerable; not just the privileged. To do otherwise is a blatant failure and blood will be on their hands.
