President Anthony Carmona yesterday praised retired justice Melville Baird for his legacy of selfless service and distinguished legal career during his swearing-in ceremony as chairman of the Integrity Commission.

Baird has served in TT and as a judge at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia by the General Assembly of the United Nations.

Carmona added the appointment would prove fruitful to the continued work of the commission and was optimistic Baird’s experience and impressive legal knowledge would be an asset to matters. Carmona, who served as a judge on the International Criminal Court, also praised Baird for his contribution to preserving local jurisprudence.
