Rapper Belcalis “Cardi B” Almanza will perform with Ian “Bunji Garlin” Alvarez on Carnival Wednesday.

In an Instagram post by TeamSoca it was announced yesterday that the rapper would join Bunji on stage at an event being called Big Bad Soca.

The event will be held on February 7 next year at the Brian Lara Stadium carpark.

The Instagram post read, “Trinidad. A historic night is about to unleash when the King of Arima @BunjiGarlin heads to South Trinidad, the birthplace of soca, and unites with the Undisputed Queen of the Bronx for her debut performance in Trinidad. Cardi B joins the Viking on stage for pure legendary vibes and a musical explosion never seen. They coming big. They coming bad. It’s gonna be a straight.”

The rapper, whose mother is Trinidadian, has broken records this year.

In September, Cardi B became the first female rapper to top the Billboard charts with her hit Bodak Yellow “without the assistance of any other credited artist in nearly 19 years,” according to a Billboard article.

She was the second female rapper to do so with Lauryn Hill being the first. But besides topping the Billboard chart, she received two Grammy nominations: one for best rap song and the other for best rap performance.

She also has, to date, the longest number one track by a female solo rapper, according to www.xxlmag.com.
