UPDATED:

Fraud accused Vicky Boodram returned briefly to the Port of Spain Magistrates’ Court yesterday before her case was adjourned to March 21.

Boodram stood alongside her estranged husband Ravi Arjoonsingh, before acting deputy Chief Magistrate Nanette Forde-John.

Forde-John was holding for her colleague Christine Charles, who is presiding over Boodram’s case but is now assigned to a court in another jurisdiction, she informed attorneys.

Boodram and Arjoonsingh, who appeared as a representative of Boodram Travel Tours and Ship Ahoy Cruises, were represented by attorney Criston J Williams, who held for attorney Jagdeo Singh. Special prosecutor Elaine Greene appeared for the State.

The matter was adjourned to March 21, when Boodram will reappear before Charles on the 40 fraud-related charges.

The former travel agent also has 138 other charges previously laid against her. She is accused of defrauding and attempting to defraud several individuals and companies between 2012 and January 2016.

Boodram, who operated Boodram Travel Tours and Ship Ahoy Cruises Ltd, was charged after individuals complained they had spent thousands of dollars for cruise trips that never materialised.

She is also before the other courts in relation to the fraud charges. Some of the charges against her are alleged to have occurred while she was previously out on bail.

She was also at the Port of Spain Magistrates’ Court two Tuesdays charged with escaping lawful custody on November 27, when she escaped from the Golden Grove Prison in Arouca.

Boodram was recaptured three days later at a house in Penal.

She is expected to appear in the Arima Magistrates’ Court today relating to her alleged escape.
