Finance Bill in Senate today

The Senate is scheduled to debate the Finance Bill 2017 when it sits today from 1.30 pm. A statement issued yesterday by the Parliament said Leader of Government Business in the Senate Franklin Khan indicated Government’s intention to debate the bill in the Senate today. The bill was passed in the House of Representatives last Friday.

The statement also said the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic (Spot Speed Camera Enforcement) (Amendment) Bill, 2017 would be debated today, if the Finance Bill was not passed last Friday.

Before debate on the Finance Bill begins, Opposition Senator Wade Mark has questions for the Government on the fake oil scandal, teenage pregnancies, illegal activities in prisons and child abuse.

The House sits on Friday from 1.30 pm to debate the Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters Bill.
