Arima man shot in San Fernando

Police said that a suspected drug dealer from Arima was shot and killed in Pleasantville, San Fernando, on Friday night.

Robert Carter, 45, who is from Calvary Hill, died from gun-shot wounds to the head.

A police report stated that at about 10.45 pm, Carter was seated in a car which was parked on the road at Orchard Gardens, Pleasantville, when a car pulled up and occupants of the vehicle fired shots. Police said that it was at close range and it appeared that Carter was killed almost instantly.

Police investigators who visited the scene and conducted inquiries, said Carter was known to the police and had a number of drug-related charges pending in the magistrates’ court. One Pleasantville resident, who requested anonymity, said more than ten shots were fired and police said they were probably fired from an automatic machine gun.
