Teen held for sexual assault on 4-year-old girl

A four-year-old girl, who was playing with other children in a yard at Las Lomas on Tuesday, reported to her mother that she was sexually abused by a 15-year-old male relative. The girl told her mother that about 4.30pm on Tuesday, her cousin took her from the yard to his home, where he committed an act of grievous sexual assault on her.

The teenager also tried to sexually assault her further but she managed to run away. The child said during the act she knew something was wrong as she remembered her mother telling her to never allow anyone to touch her genital area or to expose themselves in front of her. The girl’s mother contacted the Las Lomas police. She was medically examined and the Child Protection Unit was contacted.

The teen was expected to be questioned yesterday.
